To see how long it takes the size of a hot object to cool down Essay Example

To perceive to what extent it takes the size of a hot item to chill off Essay Arranging: I will ensure I devise a reasonable test by doing things accurately and decently. The main variable I will get will be the temperature of the water at 80oc, and I will ensure it is reasonable by testing it with a thermometer. I will likewise ensure it is a reasonable test by including more water into the greater containers since it wont all fit into the littler ones with the goal that will give the littler recepticles a reasonable possibility too, and I will gauge the water in an estimating chamber to make it fair.I will likewise ensure I devise a reasonable test by utilizing a stopwatch to record the outcome at regular intervals up to 2minutes, in light of the fact that it is progressively solid and precise. I will ensure it is reasonable when we record the outcomes since when we get the temperature I will hear a second point of view of my companion. I will likewise ensure my trial is sheltered in all the potential ways I can. I will ensure we are protected by wearing ela stic gloves just on the off chance that we spill some bubbling water on our hands.Prediction: I foresee that the greater the measuring utencil the quicker it will cool, and the littler the recepticle the more it will take to cool. I know this on account of the Food Theory, the hypothesis reveals to me that if there was a plate with a heap of hot food on it, it will take very yearn for it to chill off, where as though you were to break that heap of hot food into littler bits of food then it will chill off a lot snappier on the grounds that when you split it up you are giving it a greater surface territory so warmth can escape around the sides, top and base. So along these lines I think a similar will occur with the recepticles, yet the greater the container is clearly going to have a greater surface region than the littler recepticles, where as in the hypothesis the littler food pieces have a greater surface zone than the heap of food, yet that is on the grounds that you cannot break the measuring utencils into pieces.Apparatus:* 4 distinctive estimated beakers* Water at 80oc* Kettle* Thermometer* Rubber Gloves* Stop watch* Pen Paper (for results)Method: First of all I got the hardware, which comprises of 4 diverse measured measuring glasses, a thermometer, a pot, estimating chamber and some water. At that point I put the pot on, when the water was bubbled up to 80oc I estimated it in the estimating chamber and put the right measure of water into the right recepticle, at that point we paused and at regular intervals on the stop watch, we at that point estimated the temperature of the water in the 4 containers with a thermometer, at that point we recorded them on paper and plotted some graphs.Numbers and range: In all out I will have 4 outcomes for the 4 distinctive measured recepticles and for every measuring utencil I will have two readings, and I will record the outcomes like clockwork and toward the finish of the considerable number of results I will remove a short ways from 0 seconds for the main perusing of the primary measuring glass then I will do likewise to the second perusing for the principal container then I will include them both and partition them by two which will give me a general normal for the principal recepticle, and I will convey that on for the following 3 measuring utencils, at long last I should wind up with 4 unique midpoints with which I will plot a diagram. Here are the 4 distinctive beakers:BEAKER 1: The greatest with 150ml of waterBEAKER 2: The second greatest with 100ml of waterBEAKER 3: The third greatest with 75ml of waterBEAKER 4: The fourth greatest with 50ml of waterSafety: I will attempt to make my analysis safe by right off the bat wearing elastic gloves on the off chance that we spill the bubbling water, also by counseling an educator when we set up the experiment.CONCLUSIONCalculation: I determined my midpoints by working out the contrast between 2 minutes and 0 seconds for the principal container an d the main perusing, at that point I did the primary measuring glass and second perusing, I at that point included the totals together and separated them by 2, to give me a normal. I did this for the 3 different measuring utencils also. So I wound up with 4 by and large averages.Pattern: I would state that an example occurred in both of my diagrams, as should be obvious in the charts named result 1 and result 2all the lines go from a high temperature to a low one which shows that the temperatures did drop after some time, which was intended to occur, however then you see on diagram result 1 the request through and through is: measuring glass 1, recepticle 4, container 2, container 3, which refutes my expectation about the greater the measuring glass the quicker it will cool, since recepticle 4 is the littlest measuring glass and it chilled off quicker than measuring glass 2 and 3, and furthermore it begins with measuring glass 1 which it ought to have, at that point it hops directly to beaker4 which ought to be last, yet then it carrys on as ordinary; container 2 and afterward measuring glass 3, so I think there was an issue inside measuring utencil 4. In the diagram result 2 you can see the request through and through is: measuring utencil 3, recepticle 1, container 2, measuring glass 4, so measuring glass 3 ought to be third yet you can see that the rest is all together, so measuring glass 1, measuring glass 2, at that point it ought to have been recepticle 3, at that point recepticle 4, so I think there was an issue inside container 3. In the chart named midpoints I think everything goes pear molded, in light of the fact that the focuses are so far separated from one another, which made it harder for me to adhere to a meaningful boundary of best fit, you can likewise observe the midpoints all together from most elevated temperature to least temperature is: measuring glass 2, recepticle 4, container 1, measuring glass 3, so I believe that on the grounds that the midpoints have turned out that way and not how I expected which was measuring utencil 1,2,3 and afterward 4, I imagine that the entire analysis more likely than not turned out badly from start to end.Evaluation: In my investigation I found that the majority of my outcomes were very off key, in the diagrams result 1 and result 2 the requests were just one faulty. At that point when it went to the chart named midpoints the request was totally off-base to what I anticipated, I anticipated the greater the container the quicker it will cool, if that happened the request would have been measuring utencil 1, 2, 3, and afterward 4, but since it turned out badly it turned out recepticle 2, 4, 1 and afterward 3. in the event that you take a gander at the chart result 1 the issue was measuring utencil 4, and in the diagram result 2 the issue was container 3, I dont understand why those issues happened, and by taking a gander at the normal I figure I could have improved my investigation by doing it once more however significantly more cautiously this time round.

Family Law Reflecting Moral and Ethical Issues Free Essays

The lawful framework persistently tries and changes to give powerful administrative cures and alter existing enactment to mirror the changing idea of the Australian family structure. Family law has consistently been a huge part of Australian culture with numerous successful measures set up for family matters. Various qualities and their viability have been bantered through different highlights of family law, and these discussions proceed to the current day. We will compose a custom article test on Family Law Reflecting Moral and Ethical Issues or on the other hand any comparable subject just for you Request Now Separation is the lawful disintegration of a marriage by an official court choice and was once disliked inside society, and before 1974, wedded couples who wished to separate needed to apply under the Matrimonial Causes Act 1959 (Cth) on the ground of â€Å"fault† †that is, on the premise that one or the two life partners confessed to acting in a manner that sabotaged their marriage (for instance, infidelity, pitilessness, craziness and abandonment). In any case, the principal significant change to family law in Australia happened when the law took change in this angle with the Family Law Act 1975 (Cth), which expresses that the main ground for separate from is the â€Å"irretrievable breakdown of the marriage†, for example, the case in the marriage of Todd (1976), a couple of the life partners must assent for separate. The declining impact of religion and the possibility that marriage doesn't generally â€Å"last for life† were social factors that affected this change. The disintegration of the idea of shortcoming and the foundation of a solitary ground for separate from in this way shows changing cultural qualities and how law is changed after some time. Australian culture accepts that it is critical to secure the burdened, or the individuals who can't act to protect their own privileges †especially youngsters. After a marriage has been broken down, it is the obligation of the two guardians to offer money related help for their kids as the instance of Campbell and Campbell (1998) set up that it is to the greatest advantage of the kid to keep up the way of life to which they have become acclimated. The Australian Bureau of Statistics Marriages and Divorces 2011 Media discharge demonstrates there are 44,000 youngsters under 18 influenced by separate. All things considered, the Child Support (Assessment) Act 1989 (Cth) necessitates that youngsters get an appropriate degree of budgetary help from their folks and the Child Support (Registration and Collection) Act 1988 (Cth) guarantees that intermittent sums payable by guardians towards the upkeep of their kids are paid on a customary and convenient premise. Before the Acts, just 40% of cases for kid upkeep were being met, while after the Acts were passed, roughly 70% of cases are being met. The new accentuation on children’s rights and parental duty mirrors the social recognition that youngsters are helpless individuals from our general public and in this way require more noteworthy lawful assurance. Another significant change in social mentalities has been the expanding acknowledgment of same-sex connections, and late law changes have focused on furnishing same-sex couples with indistinguishable rights from true hetero connections, and expelling separation dependent on sexuality. At the State level, the De Facto Relationships Act 1984 (NSW) was corrected to the Property (Relationships) Act 1984 (NSW), for the developing acknowledgment of hetero and gay connections featured by news story ‘Partners who just can’t pause (2010)‘ which expresses the development in unmarried couples living respectively. It presently perceives same-sex connections as having a similar legitimate remaining as hetero accepted connections, and in this way gives assurance to individuals in same-sex true connections in property division, legacy and dynamic in ailment and in the afterlife. The Miscellaneous Acts Amendment (Same Sex Relationships) Bill 2008 (NSW) makes alterations to 57 bits of state enactment to guarantee true couples (counting same-sex couples) are dealt with similarly with wedded couples. This Act likewise makes alterations to the Anti-separation Act 1977 (NSW) to guarantee that equivalent sex couples are shielded from segregation based on their â€Å"marital or residential status† in business, settlement and access to merchandise and enterprises, enunciated in the Daily Telegraph ‘Gay couple win child care case (2008)’, after a gay couple won $10,000 in harms when their application to become cultivate carers was won't. Anyway as far as government laws at present, same-sex couples can't wed. The Marriage Act 1961 (Cth) characterizes marriage as â€Å"the association of a man and a lady to the rejection of all others intentionally went into for life†, a definition built up by the instance of Hyde v Hyde and Woodmansee (1866) and rehashed in the Family Law Act 1975 (Cth). In 2004, the Commonwealth Government reconfirmed the customary idea of marriage as the â€Å"union of a man and a woman† when it passed the Marriage Amendment Act 2004 (Cth) which means same-sex marriage is consequently void in Australia, ncluding abroad relationships. After some time, both State and governments in Australia have instituted enactment to empower and authorize rehearses which are in the open intrigue, yet in addition mirror the good and moral gauges of society. While authoritative components have been sensibly effective in accomplishing this objective as to the presentation of â€Å"no-fault† separate and the security of kids, there is the requirement for additional con sideration and change of enactment concerning same-sex couples. Evidence Based On Intimate Partner Violence ( Ipv ) Or...

Evidence informed social work The scenario I have chosen for this assignment is the one regarding Clinton who has disclosed that his partner abuses him. I have attached the scenario in appendix. The purpose of the assignment is to explore evidence based responses to intimate partner violence (IPV) or domestic violence. Researchers in the area relating to physical, psychological and sociological abuse between partners use the terms intimate partner violence and domestic violence interchangeably (Corbally, 2015, Wilson et al., 2015). For this reason I will use these terms interchangeably in this assignment. Domestic abuse refers to any type of violence which occurs between intimate partners, regardless of sexual orientation of relationship and status of relationship (Dutton, 2006). I will focus mainly on evidence based practice that is utilized or should be used by social workers when working with male victims of domestic violence. To do this I will demonstrate different types of evidence and research that social w orkers use when working with male victims of domestic violence, and also explore the links between research, evidence and practice, and evaluate the ethical and value base of the research in order to fully explore the robustness of the research in the area and link it to social work values. With reference to Clinton’s case, to be able to work with him in an anti-oppressive way and make effective decisions, I will have to evaluate my knowledge of domestic violence.Show MoreRelatedIntimate Partner Violence ( Tda ) Directed Against Women1685 Words   |  7 PagesThere is no question that intimate partner violence (IPV) directed against women is a fundamental issue. God Said, Let There Be Light, And There Was Light

â€Å"3And God said, â€Å"Let there be light†; and there was light. Genesis 1:3-4 (RSV) The verse above is profound due to the fact that it’s the first action of God and speaks volumes of his character. God simply spoke and light came into being. This action contrasts to what occurs later in the book of Genesis, where God forms man in his image and takes time to make man instead of just speaking man into existence. It relates to summary given in Snapshots by showing that before God created anything, there was nothing, and God’s first action was speaking light into being. Though this particular verse doesn’t speak of Jesus by name, it relates to elements of the Essential of Christian faith, by showing God. It show’s the reason that God deserves our reverence and power by showing God, doing the simplest action, talking. Talking is an action that most people are capable of doing, and yet, when God does it, it isn’t just words it creates light out of the nothingness that was the void. It shows why we should respect God and each other, because if we serve a God, that can speak things into being, he definitely deserves our respect. Also, if we are made in the image of God, then we too should be aware of the words we use and throw around at each other and the consequences it has on others. â€Å"So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was to be desired to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate; and she also gaveShow MoreRelatedCreationism vs. Evolution Essay1349 Words   |  6 Pages Creationism is the theory that man, the earth, and the rest of the universe was originally created rather than randomly exploding from nothingness into chance existence. Twenty-One Year Old Drinking LawsOld Enough To Serve, Old Enough To B

Twenty-One Year Old Drinking Laws:Old Enough To Serve, Old Enough To Be Served The American government states that a person must be at least twenty-one years of age to consume alcoholic beverages. However, it is in fact legal for someone to serve alcohol at age eighteen. The purpose of this paper is to research whether or not it is just for these laws to exist. The prevailing question is how can the government allow people between the ages of eighteen and twenty years old serve alcohol to people twenty-one and over when they are not allowed to consume it themselves? When faced with writing this paper, I pondered many things. Such as: If an eighteen year old is permitted to do just about anything they desire, why are they not permitted to consume alcoholic beverages? Does the twenty-one year old drinking law encourage irresponsible drinking habits? Are there any alternatives to the twenty-one year old drinking law? Is this law prevalent in other countries around the world? And finally, I questioned my own feelings on the topic. When one turns eighteen, he or she is then presented with a plethora of responsibilities. An eighteen year old is allowed to purchase cigarettes, vote for government positions, join the armed forces, handle guns and other ammunition in the military, and make other major adult decisions. It is legal for a person to have sexual intercourse with another adult, which in turn can lead to bringing another life into this world. At eighteen years old, a person can no longer be charged as a minor. They are seen as mature adults in the eyes of the legal system. All of these responsibilities are bestowed upon a person when they turn eighteen. However, they are not allowed to consume alcoholic beverages. The minimum legal drinking age (MLDA) of twenty one in the United States is commonly seen as a highly successful public health measure (Hornseth, 428). It does, however encourage excessive drinking and possible alcohol abuse in teenagers. Most teenagers go through a rebellious stage where they want to do everything they possibly can to rebel against authority. Many teens want to go against the norms and laws of society and give into peer pressure. Most underage drinkers obtain, fake id's which is a form of photo id that states they are in fact twenty-one years old. Many bars and connivance stores are aware of the fact that these ids are not legitimate. However, in the hopes of better business, they allow the teenager to purchase alcohol. Several of my friends have already turned twenty-one. They tell me that in some cases, the thrill is gone. When it's perfectly legal to consume alcohol, they are not doing anything wrong, thus taking away the fear of getting caught and the excitement of getting away with it. In Europe, there is no legal drinking age. A friend of mine is baffled by American teenager's fascination of, getting wasted. American teenagers engage in the practice of, binge drinking, whereas they drink for the sole purpose of getting drunk. This activity can lead to alcoholism, aggression, and alcohol poisoning. If parents taught their children how to drink responsibly, this problem would not be as prevalent. If underage drinking were not considered a social more, it would most likely seem less exciting to teenagers. In an article regarding lowering the current minimum legal drinking age, Elizabeth Wheeler stated, Prohibiting the sale of liquor to responsible young adults creates an atmosphere where binge drinking and alcohol abuse have become a problem (Wheelan, 14). She educates her daughter in the dangers of alcohol and how important it is to drink responsibly. She stresses the risk her daughter takes every time she drinks. There are date-rape drugs out on the market now that are easily slipped into a drink. These drugs are colorless, odorless, and tasteless, they make a person feel as if they are drunk, however, the next morning that person cannot recollect anything that happen the evening before. By her daughter knowing that she supports her, it makes her daughter less likely to engage in excessive alcohol consumption. The chancellor of the University of Colorado at boulder noticed that trying to cease underage drinking had

buy custom The Health Living essay

buy custom The Health Living essay Many Flatbush residents have poor access to medical care and this is very vital to the prevention and maintaining of health living. Twenty nine thousand people report no current health care and forty nine thousand people do not have a personal doctor. This means that people are at risk of not receiving attention quickly in the event of an illness. This increases the risk of severity of illnesses. The Government policy and plan is required to facilitate this programme and ensure all citizens are covered by a medical insurance policy. This will also increase medical checkups and routine check-up increases health stability. The public hospitals are in pathetic conditions and the bid to privatize them was legally blocked. If the public hospitals could be supported with adequate resources, this would probably improve the health conditions of the people of Flatbush. The United States Health care system is inefficient and in order to improve health care presence of an efficient health care system is a must. Providing public insurance and involving the Government in subsidizing the costs of insurance may increase the number of people who can access Medicaid. This will ensure increased access to health care and affordable insurance plan for many. Poor leadership The federal Government of New York has an assumption that the health care system in place is adequate for the people of New York City state. This is where the health challenge emerges. Communities need to be looked at from individual perspectives. If any problems are to be noticed and acted upon by the federal department of health there must be distinction and individual community approach. The needs of Flatbush are very different from the needs of Bronx in Brooklyn. The poor Health care delivery system is not adequate for the population of New York. Different health needs overwhelm the facilities because of lack of proper planning (McGoy, 2004). Poor environment Living in a healthy environment contributes to the healthy being. The conditions that the residents are living are not so god. It is clear that a good housing system and safe neighbourhood contributes to healthy living. Insecurity causes hospital admissions in resulting by accidents and crimes (Draper et al, 1980). An environment that is surrounded by insecurity, overcrowding and no housing resources such as gymnasiums and supermarkets contribute to mushrooming of small businesses that d not observe hygiene. This factors bundled together are a main cause of unhealthy living. Health education is sensitive to all this factors. Once the Government department focuses on improving the health of the residents it will involve all the stakeholders in ensuring the standards achieved do not get lost due to ignorance and stubbornness of certain individuals (Draper et al, 1980). Thus it will involve the environment and ecology. This is because human ecology is synonymous with human health. The idea is to involve the people to live healthy lifestyles and be responsible. The residents of Flatbush consider insecurity and poverty as a factor that makes the environment not to be healthy. The water distribution systems may also be part of the contributing factor to the ill health of Flatbush residents (Ontario, 2006). Policies on non- US Citizens The residents of Flatbush are mostly not United States Citizens. This is a challenge because they are not included in the health programmes that are in the country. They need more money in order to access these health care programmes. This is one form of a challenge that they face resulting to the development of negative behavioural health that leads to the contracting of sexually transmitted diseases. If the Government could introduce a plan that would include the non citizens it would really help solve the problem of lack of education on various health challenges (NYC health, 2003). This would be a great step to solving the high rates of health challenges involving the youths and sexually transmitted diseases. The youths of Flatbush should be involved and enrolled to the health care programmes which advice the youths in regards to behavioural health and sexual health. The effect of race and ethnicity has been on the toll for the minorities. The blacks receive less amount of care and a low quality of care for similar illnesses when compared to their white counterparts who are in the same income bracket and insurance coverage level. The double standards in providing health care have great consequences to the community of Flatbush. There is no effort to improve the health conditions in this community. The racial and ethnic disparities have contributed to the poor health status of the residents of Flatbush Lack of financial input The organizations that provide these services are few and not enough. There should be more funding for awareness and eeducation of the youths. This will attract more organizations to offer these services. Interest of the youths is also low in attending these awareness programmes. They view this programmes as a bother and to be very irrelevant to their livelihood. There should be motivation to the youths in making them understand the importance of these programmes. This is a sign that more effort on the Governments side to increase awareness and also educate the youths about these disease is the only way to curb the rise of these infections. More emphasis on education on the dangers of negative behavioural health will decrease the risks of the youths contracting even more complicated diseases resulting from pre marital sexual behaviours. Negative behavioural health Sexually transmitted diseases in Flatbush are on the rampant rise. The demographics stand at eight hundred and ninety one people for every ten thousand residents are infected by Chlamydia while two hundred and sixty eight individuals out of ten thousand are infected with Gonorrhoea. These rates are very high and the impacts can be devastating. The infections can lead to pelvic inflammatory disease in Women and infertility is also a possibility if left untreated. The Sexually Transmitted diseases increase the risks of contracting HIV. The youths are high on the list affected by Sexually Transmitted Infections. This is infections can be greatly reduced if the youths are given proper counselling and guidance regarding their sexuality It is in rare occasions that the centres reach out to the youths. The health care authorities wait for the youths to make right decisions to attend the training programmes and learn about their sexuality but instead the youths are focussed on exploring their sexuality. A quick response to the inflating rates of sexually transmitted infections should a priority. There seems no effort even after several community studies highlighted the danger looming in the community (DOH, 2010). Insecurity and Povert The security of the living areas is part of the community health. There was an increase in hospital admissions due to crimes and accidents. Poverty levels have also contributed to lack of a healthy community. It is because of poverty that many residents have not acquired education and this hinders there perspective of reasoning towards community health. There are programmes that have been developed to face the immediate effects of stressors. Buy custom The Health Living essay

Aversive Racism and Inequality in Health Care

Running Heading: Aversive Racism and Inequality in Health Care Aversive Racism and Inequality in Health Care: Kenisha Wilkerson Walden University Socioeconomic conditions of persons and the places where they live and work do strongly influence their health. In the United States, as elsewhere, the risk for mortality, morbidity, unhealthy behaviors, reduced access to health care and poor quality of care increases with decreasing socioeconomic circumstances (CDC Health Disparities and Inequalities Report, 2011). Bias in the health care situation is most often indirect and universal (Halwani, 2011). Indirect discrimination occurs when exactly the same services are provided to everybody, but when cultural, religious, linguistic or other reasons it is not possible for members of one or more black and minority ethnic groups to benefit equally from them (Halwani, 2011) . Yet, when African Americans, Native Americans, Asian Americans, and Latinos are compared to European Americans, these minority groups have higher rate of chronic diseases, higher mortality, and poorer health outcomes which is documented due to health disparities. While, aversive racism is caused by clever bias and ignorance rather than any malicious feelings towards minorities. Persons who often interact with minorities as equals (ei. coworkers, friends) rather than on a different level (employee/employer) will find themselves less likely to have hidden prejudices (Cannon, 2011). However, there are methods that can be used for reducing such racism for some but for others; simply understanding that aversive racism exists can help. In conclusion being in the know about racial or ethnic inequality in health care and aversive racism can help eliminate problems. Raising public and provider awareness of racial/ethnic disparities in care, expanding health insurance coverage (Obama Care), improving the capacity and number of providers in underserved communities, increasing the knowledge base on causes and interventions to reduce disparities, examining your own behavior, and techniques aimed at its roots at both the individual and collective levels. Gerry Mulligan Research Paper Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2250 words

Gerry Mulligan - Research Paper Example His pianoless quartet performance with a famous trumpeter named Chet Baker in the 1950s has been appreciated of being one of his brilliant works ever. Other than being an impressive saxophonist, he was a brilliant pianist as well. Early life According to Mulligan, there were two things that helped him pursue such a successful career; a vision and a massive amount of guts. Both these things had a major contribution in impressing Warrington, a bandleader, and convinced him to believe that Mulligan had the potential to excel well in the field of music. He therefore, not only bought him arrangements but also gave him both critical yet productive criticism regarding his career. Following that, Mulligan organized for two bands that were led by important people like Tommy Tucker and Elliot Lawrence. Since Mulligan had three brothers and hence, a large family for his mother to look after, his mother chose to employ Lily Rose as their nanny. Lily Rose was African – American and very fo nd of playing the piano. She was the one who instigated Mulligan’s love for music when he used to spend time with her watching her play. Also, while staying at Rose’s place, he got the chance to meet a lot many black musicians who used to stay at her place when in town since the motels would not accommodate them in those days. In his early life, his family moved around a lot all over the country with stops made in the following order; southern New Jersey and Chicago, followed by Illinois, Kalamazoo and lastly, Michigan. It was sometime in 1940s that he first played in a concert. This concert was held at Philadelphia’s Music Academy, where he was accompanied by Sarah Vaughan, Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker, all of whom turned out to brilliant musicians later on. Among these, Mulligan became closes to Parker since he not only encouraged him well on his first performance but also helped him recover a lost tenor which he was afraid that he had lost and also invi ted him to attend jam sessions with him. Mulligan officially started playing for orchestras at the age of nineteen. These were for people called Gene Krupa and Claude Thornhill. It was at this point also that he started correlating his music skills with important musicians from the past such as John Lewis and George Russell and made himself capable of touching new boundaries. Rise to fame When Mulligan first came to New York, he was clearly astonished of the originality the city offered. But he soon realized that even the best musicians had to strive to make a living in that city. So it was in 1951 that he moved to the west in the pursuit of better chances, playing his music all along the way as he traveled through the country. In the same year, he created his first ever piano less quartet that later and still has had a massive amount of impact for many jazz musicians that have followed him which includes bands like Art Farmers and Zoot Sims. He also formed a band of four which was successful in gaining much popularity in terms of Jazz music all along the west coast. Duke Ellington was Mulligan’s favorite composer and that is exactly why he often paired up with him for tours. They both shared a chemistry so strong that every time they went on stage, they performed wonders. Ellington was the same person who composed one of Mulligan’s most famous works called the ‘Prima Bara Dubla’ (Klinkowitz 65).A predicament that Mulligan faced during his musical

Gender Issues In Lysistrata Essay -- essays research papers

Human beings are amazing creatures. Our history has shown spectacular and shameful events from day one. Throughout the course of history we have seen both war and peace. More war than peace, but the point still remains. That we, as a human race, have accomplished many wonderful intellectual break-throughs but we have also done very stupid deeds. Its amazing how a creature of such great intelligence could separate, segregate, discriminate, dehumanize, and enslave members of its own human race.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   The world as we speak is existing because of gender issues. Going back to days of Adam and Eve. When God asked Adam not to eat from the apple tree, it was Eve, with her feminine lure, who was able to convince Adam to disobey Gods rules and eat the apple. Yet when God came to punish Adam for disobeying the rules, Adam pointed to Eve and blamed her for luring him into the sin of eating the apple. Yet in reality it was the serpent, which was the devil, that lured them into eating the apple. But of course Adam, being male had to blame Eve, the female. Which is typical male behavior to blame the woman, my sister says. In general men don’t take responsibility for their actions. Michealangelo has portrayed all this on the Sistienth Chapel. He has painted a picture that is portraying God punishing Adam for eating the apple. In this painting Adam loses his masculine image by pointing to Eve and blaming her for the problems that were caused by eating the apple.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Men threw out history have always been perceived as strong, powerful, heroic beings. Men are depicted as fighters, providers, and of course first class citizens. While woman on the other hand have always been perceived as weak, fainty, delicate homemakers, and unintelligent. Their main purpose in life is to cater for the men, and take care of the house and kids. And of course they were perceived as second class citizens.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The focus of this paper is to analyze the gender issues and differences that existed in all three plays. I would like to relate and compare these issues to our past as humans and to our modern day present.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  We see a wide array of controversial gender issues arise in Lysistrata. This play starts off by showing the main character as a strong independent woman. The beginning of the play focuses on Lysistrata resentment and anger toward the woman of the town. She sees her ow... ...uff and leave the town, with out ridicule and hardship. They seemed to be â€Å"stuck';, in the sense that is very hard to leave a small town.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The role of the women was to get married, stay home and take care of the kids, while the man provides and puts food on the table. This view is still somewhat shared with our society today.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  In conclusion it would be safe to say that all three plays relate gender issues to their time set. We can see many similarities within all three of these plays, and we can also see similarities that arise with our culture today. Even though today women are not treated as bad as they were. It is sad to say that even in the year 2000 women don’t have equal rights and don’t get equal treatment. Women still make .70 cents to the dollar as men. Their role is still to be the homemaker. And they hold such a small percentage of any policy making position. To think of all the lost talent and all the advances that could have been made to help our society is truly a sad and inhuman thought, that can get any one angry with our history. If one was to really think about it, the human race has not made much progress with the treatment of women.

Parents Should Be Active In Child Life

An adolescent’s well-being also safety are imperative besides also contribute to a well, dynamic youth and maturity. Parents can play an important role in helping their children use or strengthen behaviors, skills, attitudes, and motivation that promote their physical and mental health and overall well-being in childhood, adolescence and well into their adulthood. As you grow up, you are taught many life lessons from your experienced parents. Your parents' duty is to nurture you, so that you can grow up to become a person who is strong and able to support oneself.Parents must grasp that when it comes from raising an adolescent, together must put in an equal amount of effort so that the child acquires new things. Averts family failures or fights and stops the child from drifting off the ‘right' track as they say. It is a typical state where the dad is the one who is assumed or not currently a part of raising their kids or kid. The first reason why both parents, a pop and ma, ought to have equal chances to nurture their children is that the father, by his masculinity nature, will be better to give his child the sense of braveness and teach them.To defend themselves against anyone who could hurt them in their environment. By the father involving himself in this way in his child’s life would certainly increase the their method of analyzing any trouble they could possibly find themselves being involved in in the future and enhance and revive their self-confidence and sense of responsibility. Even though I agree that a mother should give her son/daughter a sense of tenderness to keep their children lean when they deal with people, however, a father’s role in upbringing is a vital element and role in building the child’s personality. The second reason why the father is an essential part of raising the child is that the father, and generally the man, is known for his wisdom. In fact, this feature of the father gives him the superior qua lities over the mother when dealing in any problem that could arise within the house either with his wife or with his children. Mothers are known for their emotional way of decision-making process. Therefore, children should learn from their fathers to be more logical and rational and to clarify their minds from anythingthat could affect their decision. You learn to cook when you're helping mother bake in the kitchen, you learn to fish when you're out with dad, but if only your mother teaches you how to cook and father is ‘too busy' to take you out to go fishing, then you've lost a new experience you could have discovered. There are so many different things your parents can teach you. But if only one parent puts in that effort and the other doesn't, then your knowledge and mind will not be able to become more open and aware of all the wonderful possibilities out there. Therefore, both parents should assume equal responsibility when raising a child. Sadly, today most children do n't grow up with both parents aren't their side. Kids who Grow up without both parents have been proven to have future commitment issues are more likely to resort to drugs and alcohol and are less likely to be successful in life. As they say ‘it takes two so a mother figure and a father figure is essential nearly to make it work. This is important for not only the life of the child but also for the wellness of the world. This is happening everywhere and maybe, just maybe this world would be a better place. If parents would step up and share equal responsibility in raising the child they made together. Children raised within an intact family are more likely to be mentally and physically better off in life. You need both eyes to see this clear path. Without one, it is blurred and you may get sidetracked from the path and may not be able to find your way once again. The same thing goes for parents raising children. If one nurtures the child by himself/herself, then the child may fe el far away from the other parent and because their brains are still developing, may resort to dangerous actions to make up for that loss like damaging their health by turning to alcohol and drugs. It is vital for parents to have an equal hand in caring for their child in order to help reduce this risk. In conclusion, women should share with the man, the responsibility to participate in raising up their child and be complementary to each other, in order for the child to become a balanced and withhold a strong personality. I Am An International Student Attending University Of Texas

I am an international student attending University of Texas at Arlington. It is my second semester here. I am getting used to with the American educational system and culture. So far, I feel positive about it and I think I am excelling. My first semester was however a total cultural shock.
